Applications of Vermiculite Bricks

Vermiculite bricks are brick-shaped products primarily made from granular expanded vermiculite mixed with a specific binder, formed under light pressure, and then dried or baked. Additional inorganic materials can be incorporated to produce cement-bonded expanded vermiculite bricks, water glass-bonded expanded vermiculite bricks, and asphalt-bonded expanded vermiculite bricks, among others. Due to vermiculite's low density and thermal conductivity, typical vermiculite bricks have a density of 0.4–0.8 g/cm³, a thermal conductivity at room temperature of 293–502.4 J/(m·h·℃) (70–120 cal/(m·h·℃)), compressive strength <2.45 MPa, and water absorption around 6%. Thus, vermiculite bricks find extensive applications in both domestic and industrial settings.


Applications of Vermiculite Bricks


Chenxing has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing vermiculite bricks, possessing advanced production technology and extensive manufacturing expertise. We have also independently developed and produced a range of thermal insulation vermiculite bricks and vermiculite boards. Our vermiculite bricks are manufactured by uniformly blending high-temperature expanded vermiculite with inorganic additives and binders in precise proportions. The mixture is molded under pressure, undergoes low-temperature curing, and is dried at high temperatures to form the final brick product. Standard dimensions are 240*114*65mm, though custom sizes can be produced to meet specific customer requirements. Free from asbestos, these bricks are non-toxic and harmless. They hold third-party certification from SGS and other authoritative bodies, confirming compliance with standards including: - Physical properties - Class A1 fire resistance (non-combustible) - Smoke toxicity rating ZA2 - Fire integrity - Thermal insulation - Sound insulation - Free from heavy metals, asbestos, formaldehyde, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) However, vermiculite bricks possess limited strength and are unsuitable for load-bearing applications or as medium-to-high-temperature insulation materials. Their operational temperature range is 800–1100°C. Vermiculite bricks find extensive applications in roofing and soundproofing treatments. Their low density also helps reduce floor loads. They are suitable for construction, decoration, insulation, metallurgy, fireplaces, pellet stoves, and other fields requiring sound insulation, thermal insulation, and fire resistance.
