The fire doors we commonly refer to are typically fire-rated doors with thermal insulation. These doors are designed to simultaneously meet requirements for fire resistance integrity and thermal insulation against smoke for a specified duration. Fire-rated doors with thermal insulation are categorized into three common fire resistance ratings: Class A (1.5 hours), Class B (1.0 hours), and Class C (0.5 hours), each intended for use in different scenarios.

Fire doors are critical fire protection equipment installed in key fire safety zones to contain fires, safeguard lives and property, and buy time for fire rescue operations. Their structure and materials undergo specialized treatment, delivering fire-resistant performance that ordinary doors cannot match. This is achieved by filling the door with environmentally friendly, non-toxic fireproof insulation material—the fire door core panel—to enhance its fire resistance. The fireproof door core panel is the decisive factor in the performance of a fire door and the key to its quality. The fireproof door core vermiculite panel is primarily made from expanded vermiculite, combined with a specific amount of inorganic binder, and manufactured through hot or cold pressing. It is a panel that is heat-resistant, fireproof, thermally insulating, soundproof, and free of harmful substances. Expanded vermiculite, the primary material, contains no asbestos or similar components. As a silicate mineral, it exhibits exceptional high-temperature resistance, resisting expansion, deformation, or combustion under intense heat. When heated, it emits no harmful gases, produces minimal smoke, and generates no unpleasant odors, qualifying it as a Class A fire-rated board.

Fire-resistant door core vermiculite boards, owing to their numerous advantages, are increasingly favored by fire door manufacturers. Many leading manufacturers now utilize vermiculite boards as the core material for fire doors. During a fire, these boards can contain the blaze within the origin area or isolate it within a room. Even after prolonged exposure to high temperatures, they maintain their structural integrity and fire-resistant properties, achieving a fire resistance rating of up to 4 hours. They effectively slow the spread of flames and limit their reach, thereby providing escape routes and evacuation time, buying precious moments for personnel safety. Smoke generated during fires is a primary cause of casualties. At high temperatures, fire-resistant door core vermiculite boards do not emit gases harmful to human health, nor do they produce dense smoke or odors. This significantly reduces the health hazards posed by smoke from some organic fireproofing materials. Fireproof door core vermiculite boards feature a hard material with high density, offering excellent seismic resistance and the ability to withstand certain impacts. They are also resistant to moisture and damage, ensuring a long service life and convenient maintenance.


Despite these advantages and characteristics that reduce casualties and economic losses during fires, once a fire occurs, immense damage is inevitable. Even the best fire protection facilities and equipment can only offer limited relief. The most effective fire prevention measure is to prevent fires before they start. Only by minimizing or eliminating fires can we achieve the highest level of safety.
