Advantages of Fireplace Vermiculite Boards

Fireplaces originated in Western countries, serving both decorative and practical purposes. Winters there are extremely cold. Installing stoves to burn wood for warmth at home became common. With technological advancements and the proliferation of heating methods, their practical function gradually diminished. Recently, as temperatures drop, the Russia-Ukraine conflict intensifies, and Europe's energy crisis worsens, reports indicate some are reverting to wood-burning for warmth, bringing fireplaces back to their original practical function of fueling wood fires. A fireplace consists of a mantel and a hearth. The mantel primarily serves a decorative purpose, while the hearth fulfills the practical function. Vermiculite boards are one of the most ideal thermal insulation materials for installing the hearth and firebox. They offer application advantages such as fire resistance, heat retention, crack resistance, and durability.



Advantages of Fireplace Vermiculite Boards


To enhance insulation and heat retention in fireplaces, 25mm vermiculite boards can be used as insulation material within the fireplace core. Compared to firebricks, vermiculite boards offer significant advantages. Firstly, they are relatively lightweight, reducing the overall weight of the fireplace. The density of vermiculite boards ranges from approximately 400-800 kg/m³, while firebricks have a density of about 1800-2500 kg/m³. Secondly, vermiculite boards offer superior thermal insulation compared to firebricks. Their thermal conductivity is approximately 0.047-0.081 W/(m·K), whereas firebricks have a thermal conductivity around 1.04 W/(m·K). Furthermore, vermiculite panels feature a silver-white color, significantly enhancing the aesthetic appeal and quality of the furnace. Fireplace vermiculite panels are manufactured using premium silver-white vermiculite from Xinjiang, blended uniformly with inorganic materials and binders in specific proportions. They undergo compression molding, low-temperature curing, and high-temperature drying. These panels possess sufficient strength to accommodate drilling, slotting, and cutting without issues, ensuring ease of processing and installation.
